Dr. Jo Pretorius and his highly qualified team welcome residents and visitors to our centre for dental excellence in Providenciales in the heart of Grace Bay. We have been serving the island community for over 25 years and have grown our business to provide the latest skills and equipment for all our young and old patients.
Dr. Jo, originally from Cape Town via London, and Dr. Rachel Allan, from Scotland, provide comprehensive general dental care ranging from examinations and pain relief to fillings, crowns, bridges, endodontics, dentures, and extractions.
Our dental clinic also offers a full-time dental hygiene program spearheaded by Beth Otto-Darko our dental hygiene therapist who qualified in the UK. Our clinic puts a strong emphasis on preventative dentistry from a young age and we provide patient orientation and education information for children and parents to give them the best start in good oral health.
In 2012 Dr. Jo introduced consultant specialist Periodontal Services with Dr. Mellado D.MD., M.S. Dr. Mellado has practiced periodontics and implant surgery since 1993 and travels from Florida to provide our patients with advanced dental treatment, working in conjunction with Dr. Jo and Dr. Rachel to ensure the very best standard of care.
Also, in 2012 Dr. Jo introduced consultant Dr. Eagan DDS from Eagan Orthodontics in Michigan and we started a very busy orthodontic program at our clinic. Patients benefit from specialist orthodontic treatment in our office and the support of our staff, who have been trained by Dr. Eagan to help maintain braces and other orthodontic appliances when he is not on island.
At the end of 2022 Dr. Stephen Adler, M.D. joined our team to offer facial plastic surgery on the island, treating patients for skin cancer and cancer reconstruction, surgical facial enhancements, and botox and fillers. Dr. Adler travels from his extremely successful practice in Florida to offer comprehensive facial surgical treatments.
Post-COVID our practice has grown to offer destination dentistry and surgery fulfilling the needs of many visitors unable to obtain appointments for treatment in their home countries.
We can usually offer general dental appointments a few days in advance and will always try and accommodate emergencies on the same day.
We have the dates in advance for our visiting specialists so can also arrange consultations and treatment with them for your convenience.

Dr. Jo as he is affectionately called, has over 30 years of experience in general dental practice, including 8 years in Oxford Street, London, before taking over Dental Services in the Turks & Caicos islands in 1998.
He pioneered the first preventative dentistry program in the islands, introducing a dental hygiene service that caters to full-time residents and winter visitors.

Dr. Rachel is our full-time general dentist, recently joining us from Scotland, UK.
She qualified at the University of Dundee BDS with a Commendation and also has a BMSc First Class Honours Degree in Forensic and Legal Medicine.
Dr. Rachel was a General Dental Practitioner in Scotland for 3 years prior to joining Dental Services, working with a large patient base and mixed patient demographic.
She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry with a particular interest in pediatrics and anxiety management to create happy and confident smiles.

Dr. José R. Mellado
D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Mellado has practiced periodontics and implant surgery since 1993; after five years in Philadelphia, PA, he established offices in Coral Gables and Hialeah, FL in 1998. Having earned a D.M.D. at the University of Puerto Rico in 1990, followed by a 1993 Certificate in Periodontics from Temple University in Philadelphia, he was granted an M.S. from the Graduate School of Oral Biology in 1994, also at Temple University. Commitment to excellence in patient care has remained his highest priority.
With this educational mix emphasizing dentistry’s biological and scientific underpinnings, Dr. Jose R. (Pepe”) Mellado throughout has maintained academic associations. He served as Clinical Assistant Professor and then Clinical Associate Professor at Temple University’s School of Dentistry from 1993 to 2010. Since 2015 he has held a Clinical Assistant Professorship at the Gainesville campus of UF. While engaged in research, Dr. Mellado published in refereed journals.
Throughout his career he has remained committed to serving the discipline and the integrity of periodontics, at state and national levels, in addition to a full-time private practice. Selected in 2007 as an Examiner of graduate periodontists—those seeking Diplomate Certification from the American Board of Periodontology—he was elected as Director of that distinguished national Board in 2012. In 2017-2018 he is Chairman of the Board. Since 2016, he has been a Director of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, as well.
Dr. Mellado participates in numerous professional societies; additionally, he holds appointments for both Examiner and Expert Witness for the State of Florida.
Distinguished by his ethic of cutting-edge learning, Dr. Mellado speaks often of his “beautiful family.” He is married to Dr. Ania Cabrerizo, who is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. They are dedicated parents to three sons, Sebastian, Marcos, and Julian.

Dr Stephen Adler joins the team at Dental Services offering his specialist skills as a Facial Plastic Surgeon to treat skin cancer and all forms of facial enhancements. Travelling from Florida Dr Adler is a highly regarded surgeon who is sought after throughout the USA.
Dr. J Victor Eagan, DDS
Orthodontic Specialist
For Dr. J. Victor Eagan, orthodontics isn’t just an interest, it’s in his blood. Dr. Eagan is the son of Dr. John Eagan, the first African American orthodontist in the state of Michigan and the third African American orthodontist in the world.
He started working in his father’s office when he was 10 years old, and he’s known since then that he was going to be an orthodontist, too.
Mrs Beth Moxon

Beth joined the Dental Services team in 2017 from the UK and has proved very popular with both new and existing patients of the practice. She is qualified in all aspects of dental hygiene as well as administering local anesthetic and performing fillings on both children and adults.
As part of the team she is trained by Dr Eagan in orthodontics and by Dr del Amo and Dr Mellado in advanced periodontal treatment. Beth prides herself in making sure her patients are at ease and comfortable throughout their treatment.
Magda Bellevue
Dental Assistant
Magda has been with the team since 2011 she has studied for her Dental Assistant Diploma and is now an integral member of the day to day practice. She assists Dr Jo and has worked with the periodontists on their visits to the island.
Magda has also been trained by Dr Eagan and Lise to work extensively with orthodontic patients in assisting with adjustments and all aspects of their treatment.
Jo Birch
Hygienist
Ms. Birch joins Dental Services from New Zealand to help meet the practice’s expanding hygiene program’s demand.
She brings 23 years of experience to the business and as well as working with Beth to meet and treat all our wonderful hygiene patients.
Jo enjoys working with our periodontal specialist and will be trained to provide specialist nursing to Dr. Adler, our Facial Plastic Surgeon.

Christina arrived in Provo in 1998 with Dr Jo.
Originally, she worked behind the scenes for Dental Services but as the practice has grown she needed to spend more time helping to manage the business on the premises and is now the Practice Manager.
As well as handling the day-to-day running of the staff and surgeries she co-ordinates and manages all the visiting specialists and their patients and schedules.
